Wexford Opera House extends ‘Open Day’ due to overwhelming demand

 (Thursday, 14 August 2008) Due to an overwhelming response from the public, Wexford Opera House has announced extended opening hours for its ‘Open Day’ which takes place on Sunday, 7 September 2008.

Local community invited to participate in official opening of Wexford Opera House

Wexford Opera House will officially open over the weekend of 5-7 September, culminating in a free-of-charge ‘Open Day’ when the building will be opened for the local community to visit.

Keys to Wexford Opera House handed over to Festival as building nears completion

(Wexford, Monday July 14, 2008)

The Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, Deputy Martin Cullen TD, today visited the Wexford Opera House and oversaw the handing of keys from the building contractors, Cleary Doyle Contracting, to the owners, the Wexford Festival Trust.

General booking is now open...

General booking for the 57th Wexford Festival Opera is now open. Over 50 events including Snegurochka, The Mines of Sulphur, Tutti in Maschera, ShortWorks, concerts, and recitals.

The Twin Churches at 150

Rowe Street Church

The 150th anniversary of Wexford’s Twin Churches links two very different events in Irish history: the Great Famine and the Celtic Tiger. Ireland was emerging from the Famine in 1858 when Rowe Street and Bride Street Churches opened.

The Chief

Meet the Chief...

David McLoughlin

David McLoughlin assumed the role of interim Chief Executive at Wexford Festival Opera last September, ie. at a momentous time for the organisation as the new opera house neared completion.

His steady hand has guided the organisation safely since then, and the Board is now delighted to confirm David’s appointment as Chief Executive.

To celebrate 200 years of Moore's world-famous Irish Melodies, the Thomas Moore Commemorative Festival is delighted to present a nationwide tour, for voice and piano, entitled My Gentle Harp.

Wexford Opera House Update
