Join Wexford Opera House in our Second Year in adopting a greener image by taking your first step - greening the Wexford Festival Opera. We were one of the first festivals to take a concerted step to implementing good environmental management principles across every part of the Festival and this included – Wexford Opera House, Accommodation providers, Restaurants & Bars, Local Businesses and supporters, vendors and suppliers.
Wexford Opera House achieved the prestigious Green Hospitality Award in 2010 and continues to be certified and we are encouraging all those who supported the “Green Festival” last year to continue to do so and for new businesses to join us for 2011 and the Greenest Festival yet!
We have ambitious aims as this year we aim to grow the Greening process further out into the community and engage many more supporters and partners. We aim to foster a culture of environmental awareness that will last beyond the Opera Festival and grow within Wexford itself and allow Wexford to promote itself as a Green Town & County.
The greening of Wexford Festival Opera is being held in conjunction with – Wexford Opera House, Wexford Chamber, the Environmental Protection Agency NWPP, Green Festivals Programme and Econcertive. The EPA is kindly funding this programme under the National Waste Prevention Programme and it is heavily subsidised by the EPA.

How to Support Greening Wexford Festival Opera 2011
There are a number of ways for businesses to become part of this exciting and innovative programme:
- Achieve Green Certification through either the Green Hospitality Programme or through Ecocert (non hospitality businesses);
- Green Festival Membership.

How will Wexford Festival Opera promote your greener image?
All certified green businesses will be listed on the Green Festival web page of Wexford Festival Opera and will have links where available;
Within the Opera House prior to the Festival and during the Festival;
EcoCert awardees will receive 1 year’s membership of the EcoCert Scheme;
All Green Hospitality Programme awardees will receive one year’s membership of the GH Programme with all the benefits attached to membership including National & International recognition.
