Wexford Festival Opera will be one of the first festivals in Ireland to embrace the greening process. The Opera House will implement the Green Hospitality Awards programme criteria and is inviting all suppliers of tourism and business services to join them in this process with the objective to have the Wexford Festival Opera branded as a Green Tourism Festival.
Tourism and other businesses are invited to the launch of the programme on Wednesday, 14th July from 8.45am to 1 pm in the Talbot Hotel, Wexford, to find out more about the programme and opportunities for all businesses that support Wexford Opera House. Environmental experts from the Green Tourism Festivals Programme will explain the business, marketing, cost saving and legislative reasons and benefits that should encourage businesses to join with Wexford Opera House in making Wexford Festival Opera one of the premier Green Festivals in Ireland.
The morning workshop, running from 8:45 – 10:45, will identify the steps all businesses need to take to achieve environmental recognition and certification and how Wexford Festival Opera will promote supporters of this scheme. Following this session, there will be an introduction to the criteria and the detailed process members will need to take to achieve certification. This will run from 11.00am to 1.00pm.
The overall focus of the programme is to encourage businesses to become more sustainable by reducing their consumption of energy & water and by reducing their waste. Businesses that have adopted theses steps around Ireland already can show annual savings from €5,000-100,000.
