Olivier Award for Irish Designer Kate Guinness

Wexford Festival Opera has often been a platform for rising artistic talent – but not just for singers and conductors. Irish set & costume designer, Kate Guinness, who designed the shortwork operas in 2010, was a recipient of the prestigious Olivier Award presented in London recently.

Kate was the set and costume designer on the UK production of ‘la bohéme’ at the Soho Theatre in London last year which won an Olivier Award for ‘Best New Opera Production’. Commenting on the award Kate said, ‘What an amazing surprise’! Wexford Festival Opera looks forward to welcoming Kate back to design our shortwork operas in 2011!
