From Wednesday, October 21st to Sunday, November 1st, Wexford Festival Opera will showcase three stunning Operas and a programme of other events.
Among the highlights this year will be the European Premiere of the new performing version of ‘The Ghosts of Versailles’ by Oscar winning American composer John Corigliano, a double bill of Une éducation manquée by Emmanuel Chabrier & La cambiale di matrimonio by Gioachino Rossini with a musical score that sparkles with wit, vivacity and melodic spontaneity and Gaetano Donizetti’s melodrama, Maria Padilla a tale of family honour and tragedy.
Off the main stage there is a wealth of other events to choose from, including the ever-popular lunchtime recitals, the Gala Concert and the Prague Chamber Choir Recitals. New additions to the programme this year include a performance by acapella phenomenon, Anúna and a piano recital by the winner of the AXA Dublin International Piano Competition, Alexej Gorlatch, who will perform a concert of his award winning repertoire in his first Irish recital since winning this prestigious award.
Wexford Festival Opera is now one the most sought after national cultural and social events of the year. Now housed in the award-winning Wexford Opera House, this Festival is expected to sell-out.
