Wexford Festival Opera and Febvre form a diamond alliance!
Wexford Festival Opera and wine distributor, Febvre & Company Limited, announce a new partnership whereby Champagne Deutz, Äy and Delas Frères wines from the Rhône Valley will be the official Champagne and Wines for the forthcoming Opera Festival.
Febvre, known for its original thinking in wine, understands that reputation is important and company executives trawl the world seeking out the finest wines. The result is a carefully selected choice of award-winning wines that will delight the palate of Wexford’s opera lovers. The wine selection has also been increased and is sold by the bottle or the glass.
David McLoughlin, Chief Executive of Wexford Festival Opera, expressed his delight at the new partnership: “Febvre is a family owned company that has a long standing reputation as being a procurer of fine wines from family owned wineries all over the globe. We are delighted to avail of that expertise to offer an eclectic selection of quality wines to our discerning audiences as we celebrate the 60th Diamond Anniversary of Wexford Festival Opera”.
Champagne lovers will enjoy a selection from one of the original members of the Association des Grand Marques, Champagne Deutz whose wines are produced exclusively from the terroirs of great and first growths. The Wexford Festival will offer a choice of Champagne Deutz Brut Classic; Brut Rosé or the exclusive Amour de Deutz, all of which scored 90+ points in a recent independent tasting by the world renowned Robert Parker*. Award-winning wines from Delas Frères have also scored such ratings from Robert Parker and include Delas St Esprit Côte du Rhône Rouge and, unusually, Blanc as well as a Delas Crozes Hermitage.
Other wines include a delicate Pinot Noir from Victoria made by Australia’s family owned De Bortoli winery; Chablis le Verger from Alain Geoffroy, one of the oldest Chablis vineyards in France and a refreshing Sauvignon Blanc from the Marlborough vineyard of internationally acclaimed New Zealand wine-maker Steve Smith.
*(This point rating is attributed to: “an outstanding wine of exceptional complexity and character. In short, these are terrific wines”).
