Zurich Sponsors Opening Production of 61st Wexford Festival Opera
Zurich Insurance has been announced as production sponsor for the opening performance of this year’s 61st Wexford Festival Opera. Renewing its commitment to Wexford Festival Opera for the third consecutive year, the company will sponsor L'Arlesiana, a three act opera by Francesco Cilèa. L'Arlesiana will run for four performances during the 12 day Festival, which takes place from 24th October to 4th November.
Speaking at the sponsorship announcement, Conor Brennan, Director of Broker Distribution, Zurich said, “Zurich is delighted to support Wexford Festival Opera with its production sponsorship of L'Arlesiana. Now in its 61st year, the event is celebrated as one of the World’s premier opera festivals, receiving critical acclaim both nationally and internationally for its role in fostering cultural awareness and promoting Irish and international talent.”
He added, “With over 120 Zurich employees now based in Wexford, the Festival has provided a fantastic opportunity for Zurich to not only get involved in the local community but to recognise the achievements of the 350 local volunteers through the Wexford Festival Opera/Zurich Volunteer Award - for Outstanding Leadership and Development. Launched last year, this award is presented to the volunteer nominated by their peers who has served to enhance the development, patron service and longevity of Wexford Festival Opera.”
Chief Executive of Wexford Festival Opera, David Mc Loughlin said, “In these still challenging times in the commercial and cultural environment we are particularly heartened that Zurich have retained and renewed their confidence in both Wexford Festival Opera, as one of nation’s most iconic and internationally renowned cultural events, and also in the hundreds of committed volunteers without whom the Festival could not be staged each year.”
Nominations for the 2012 Wexford Festival Opera/Zurich Volunteer Award - for Outstanding Leadership and Development will open later this month. For further information, please click here.
