  • Joyeux Nöel

      Jerome Hynes Theatre

    Joyeux Noël, the film that inspired Silent Night, will be screened in the Jerome Hynes Theatre in Wexford Opera House at 10:30 am on the days of the Silent Night performances. There is no charge but tickets must be booked online or through the Box Office.

    The Cloak – ‘Il Tabarro’ – is the first work in Il Trittico, Puccini’s trio of one-act operas (the other two are Gianni Schicchi and Suor Angelica) first performed in New York in 1918. It is a verismo melodrama set among the barges of the River Seine in 1910.

  • Pre-Opera Talk

    Starts: 19:00

      O'Reilly Theatre

    Each evening there will be a talk of approximately 30 minutes' duration about the opera to be performed, giving an opportunity to explore the work more closely. Talks will be given by a range of specialists including academics, composers, directors and musicians.

  • Silent Night

    Starts: 20:00

      O'Reilly Theatre

    Wexford Festival Opera is honoured to present the European premiere of Kevin Puts’ Pulitzer Prize-winning Silent Night, about the spontaneous Christmas truce between enemy combatants during the First World War.
