Wexford Festival Opera (WFO) is now accepting applications for the position of Artistic Director.
Recognised as one of the world’s leading Opera Festivals, WFO’s home is the National Opera House of Ireland which opened in 2008. The Festival's guiding principles include: the presentation of unjustly neglected works, the introduction of artists at the beginning of their careers, and a sense of camaraderie and friendship in the unique setting of an historic Irish town each October.
Since 2008, WFO has undertaken successful co-productions with a number of leading American and European companies.
The ideal candidate will possess an extensive knowledge of repertoire, together with the leadership and artistic skills needed to plan, to cast and to present a balanced programme of three principal operas to an extremely high standard. Additionally, the Artistic Director devises a programme including recitals, lectures and performances of more popular operatic works at various venues around the town of Wexford during the three weeks of the Festival.
The candidate will succeed David Agler who retires at the conclusion of the 2019 Festival.

Wexford Festival Trust is seeking an energetic, creative and experienced Sponsorship Executive to join its growing development team. This is an exciting new role working with an award winning Festival, Best Festival award at the 2017 International Opera Awards, and Venue, IMRO National Live Venue of the year 2016. Wexford Festival Opera, described by Frommer’s Travel Guide as one of the top three destinations in the world for Opera lovers, has many national and international sponsors. This new role will be responsible for working closely with all stakeholders on co-ordinating brand and sponsor activations in innovative and creative ways. This position will also be responsible for securing new sponsorship for Wexford Festival Opera and The National Opera House. The role requires a highly organised individual who works well on their own initiative, as well as being an excellent communicator and team player.
Key role requirements:
Demonstrable experience and commitment to achieving six figure income goals and working to targets, while building and managing relationships effectively.
Prior account management/customer relations experience with proven capabilities in the donor/customer management and cultivation process 3 years+ min.
Strong commercial acumen, with proven track record in deal-making experience; or business development or marketing experience gained in Ireland or abroad.
- Strong administrative skills, including a high standard of database management and computer literacy.
- Excellent written and verbal communications with strong interpersonal skills and excellent presentation skills.
- Event management experience.
Location: Dublin City Centre location, with regular attendance in the Festival’s main office in Wexford as required by the Head of Development. A successful candidate from the South East can be based in the company’s head office in The National Opera House in Wexford. A presence in Wexford during the Festival for a three week period from mid-October to early November, and at other times of development activity during the year, will be obligatory.
Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience, plus bonus.

Wexford Festival Opera is now recruiting for a range of technical staff for its forthcoming season of Opera at the National Opera House in Wexford. These roles are from early September to the first week in November.
