Each year the internationally renowned Wexford Festival Opera brings together top talent from across the globe, but sometimes the top talent exists in your own backyard.
Wexford Festival Opera recently embarked on a new development initiative aimed at capitalising on its existing strong reputation in North America, particularly the United States, with the launch of the ‘American Friends of Wexford Opera’.
While most people were on holiday in August, the crew of Wexford Festival Opera were busy building the set of the opening opera production, L’Arlesiana by Cilèa. The 19th century Italian opera about a man’s obsessive love for a mysterious woman is designed by Dubliner Sarah Bacon, who designed the Wexford ShortWork operas in 2007 and 2008.
Zurich Insurance has been announced as production sponsor for the opening performance of this year’s 61st Wexford Festival Opera. Renewing its commitment to Wexford Festival Opera for the third consecutive year, the company will sponsor L'Arlesiana, a three act opera by Francesco Cilèa. L'Arlesiana will run for four performances during the 12 day Festival, which takes place from 24th October to 4th November.
