It was announced today that Irish soprano Jennifer Davis, who was scheduled to perform the role of Violetta in the opera Il bravo by Saverio Mercadante at this year’s Festival, has with regret withdrawn from the production.
With just a little over ten weeks until the 67th Wexford Festival Opera kicks-off, some updates to the artistic programme have been announced.
Wexford Festival Opera is delighted to confirm that the composer and librettist of Dinner at Eight, William Bolcom and Mark Campbell, will attend the European premiere of Dinner at Eight. To add to the occasion, the composer and librettist will give a talk about their journey in creating this opera, which was originally commissioned by Minnesota Opera.
Wexford Festival Trust is now inviting applications for the position of Artistic Director, Wexford Festival Opera. The successful candidate will succeed David Agler who retires at the conclusion of the 2019 Festival.
