PwC is announced as education partner for the 70th Wexford Festival Opera. Through an exciting new partnership, PwC will support the Wexford Factory II, a unique professional development academy for young Irish/Irish-based singers which will take place this September.

A two-year experience, 10 singers who took part last year will return once again to Wexford for further artistic development with world renowned artists including Gregory Kunde, Ermonela Jaho and Tara Erraught. They will perform in various festival productions this October.

This international partnership offers key opportunities to the emerging artists. One participant, Jade Phoenix, has already been chosen to participate in the ‘Alberto Zedda Academy’ at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, Italy, this summer.

Nurturing artists and showcasing the talents of young singers has long been a cornerstone of Wexford Festival Opera. Many of today's world leading Opera artists performed in Wexford early on in their careers. The dedication, sacrifice and hard work which are needed to succeed in a career such as opera are also those that are needed to succeed in business. This generous support of the Wexford Factory by PwC shows their commitment to supporting both artists and businesses at this difficult time.

Speaking at the announcement, Jean Delaney, Partner, PwC, said: “Supporting young talent is a key priority at PwC and the Wexford Factory is a perfect fit with this ambition. We are delighted to partner with the Wexford Festival Opera and this important professional development academy. We wish all of the artists great success in their future careers.”

Marking the announcement this morning WFO CEO Randall Shannon said “Wexford Festival Opera has a widely-recognised reputation for discovering and supporting young talent. The instigation of this programme by Artistic Director, Rosetta Cucchi, was an inspired move to formalise this aspect of the company’s work and the welcome support of PwC helps us to ensure the continuity of this vitally important project.”
