Window Display Competition 2022
There was great excitement on Friday last in the National Opera House when the winners of the Window Display Competition 2022 were announced. Representatives from all of the participating shops were invited to a reception to mark the announcement of the winners and to thank the shops for their valued role in creating a festive atmosphere in the town. Karina Daly, member of the Board of Wexford Festival Opera thanked the shops and businesses for making the effort to decorate their shop windows and for embracing this year’s theme – Music and Magic – to the full. She reiterated that the tradition of dressing shop windows for the Festival was a very popular tradition in Wexford and that local people and visitors alike looked forward to walking the streets at Festival time to see the creativity on show. Six cash prizes of €500 each were awarded, across five categories and an overall winner was also selected.
Niamh Hatchell, EPA, attended the reception to present the award to the winner of the ‘Best Environment Friendly’ theme. Niamh was one of the judges, along with Emanuele Sinisi, Set Designer at Wexford Festival Opera, Roberto Catalano, Director at Wexford Festival Opera and Shonagh Lyons, Presenter with Beat FM.
The winners of this year’s competition are as follows:

A word of thanks was extended to the Festival’s Local Engagement Committee members for their commitment to the competition and for recognising its importance as part of the Festival. The reception was attended by Mayor Maura Bell, who presented the winning shops with their prizes. The theme for next year’s Festival – Women and War – has been announced, and shops are encouraged to start thinking early about creative ideas for next year’s competition.
