From Dr Tom Walsh’s founding of the Festival in 1951 to our 75th year, Wexford has always been about vision. This year, we celebrate that legacy by bringing together five Artistic Directors representing the illustrious past and vibrant present of the Festival.
Current Artistic Director Rosetta Cucchi (appointed in 2020) will moderate a conversation with past Artistic visionaries: Brian Dickie (1967 – 1973), Elaine Padmore (1982 – 1994), Luigi Ferrari (1995 – 2004) and David Agler (2005 – 2019). These five artistic directors will share the same stage for the very first time.
Together, they represent over half a century of artistic vision, from the restoration of forgotten masterpieces to Wexford’s rise as a global cultural phenomenon. This rare gathering offers an intimate look behind the curtain of one of the world’s most beloved festivals. Join us for what promises to be a morning of expert insight and rare anecdotes into Wexford’s incredible journey. Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime conversation.
We are grateful for the ongoing support of the Lecture by Victoria Walsh Hamer, daughter of the Festival’s Founder, Dr Tom Walsh.
