‘Whisky Galore’

Raise a glass to one of Wexford’s most unexpected founders.

Sir Compton Mackenzie, celebrated Scottish novelist, author of ‘Whisky Galore’, and founder of Gramophone magazine, played a pivotal role in the early conversations that led to the creation of Wexford Festival Opera. During a visit to Wexford, he encouraged the bold idea of establishing an opera festival in this Irish harbour town. The rest is history.

In his spirit, we gather at Green Acres for an afternoon tasting that brings together a few great pleasures: fine Scottish whisky, fine Irish whiskey, and unforgettable opera.

Over the course of an hour, guests will sample three distinctive pours, each thoughtfully paired with a carefully selected recorded aria. As flavours unfold in the glass, great voices will fill the room, inviting guests to savour the harmony between music and malt.

An hour of warmth, conviviality and shared enjoyment in honour of 75 remarkable years.
