Irish tenor Seán Tester recently graduated from the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM) with a Master in Music Performance. Seán studied under Prof. Owen Gilhooly-Miles and was a recipient of the BVOF | RIAM John Pollard Bursary. Seán made his international role debut in Switzerland in Rossini's Guillaume Tell in the role of Rodolphe at Nouvel Opéra Fribourg/Neue Oper Freiburg, a co-production with Irish National Opera. Other roles have been performed by Seán in operas including Postcard from Morocco (RIAM Opera), The Fairy Queen (Korčula Baroque Festival), and Rigoletto (covering Il Duca di Mantova) with Irish National Opera. He has also performed in Faust, La Bohème, La Traviata, and Der fliegende Holländer with the Irish National Opera Chorus. A winner of the Patricia Eberhart Aria Prize, Seán has performed at Electric Picnic’s “Opera at the Movies” and as the musical guest at a State dinner at Áras an Uachtaráin by H.E. Mr. Michael D. Higgins, President of Ireland for H.E. Mr. Sergio Mattarella, President of Italy. As Series Ambassador for the Drogheda Classical Music Series 24/25, he recently performed alongside Celine Byrne, soprano. In 2025, Seán returned to Blackwater Valley Opera Festival as Snout in Benjamin Britten's "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" and for recital appearances.
