After the successful release of her first book, Tom Walsh’s Opera -The History of the Wexford Festival, 1951-2004, in late 2004. Wexford author Karina Daly has returned with a second instalment, The History of Wexford Festival Opera 1951-2021.

Detailing the several decades of culture, the internationally renowned Festival has added to Wexford town. The History of Wexford Festival Opera,1951-2021 tracks the social, historical and economic impact of the Opera Festival in Wexford town. Opening in 1951, Karina guides the reader through its simple beginnings as a group of opera lovers to the Festival’s gradual expansion into one of the world’s leading opera festivals. An elegant celebration of the culture, tradition and people who have embraced and supported the Wexford Festival Opera since its inception, The History Of Wexford Festival is a must-have for any opera-goer.

Throughout the Festival, Karina will join us for two exclusive Meet The Author Events. Join us on the 23 October at 10:30 am and on the 30th October at 10.30 am where Karina will be available to discuss and sign copies of the book. Author Karina Daly holds a master in Modern Cultural History and completed her PhD in Modern History at University College Dublin in 2001. An official launch has been planned for October 29th with renowned Enniscorthy-born writer Colm Tóibín.
