Wexford Festival Opera opens tomorrow and there’s a wonderful sense of excitement in the air.

The 74th Festival will be officially opened by Artistic Director Rosetta Cucchi in celebration of her 30 years with Wexford Festival Opera. The ceremony on the Quay will commence at 7:15pm and will lead into the much-loved fireworks display that will light up the harbour. This will be followed by the opening main stage opera, Verdi's Le trouvère, in the National Opera House. Earlier that evening the Community Opera, A Little Midsummer Night’s Dream, will have its first of five sold-out performances.

Opening Night Timings:

  • 5pm: A Little Midsummer Night’s Dream – Community Opera at The Grain Store | SOLD OUT
  • 7:15pm: Opening Ceremony and fireworks on the Quay – officially opened by Artistic Director Rosetta Cucchi
  • 8pm: Le trouvère – main stage opera at the O’Reilly Theatre | SOLD OUT

We are grateful to our Festival partners and sponsors for their generous support of our opening night productions: Elavon (Le trouvère), and Energia Group (event sponsor), The Talbot Collection (venue partner) and Laidlaw Opera Trust (event supporter) (A Little Midsummer Night’s Dream).
