This year’s Festival Forum welcomes internationally bestselling author and Wexford native, Eoin Colfer.

Best known as the creator of the Artemis Fowl series, which has sold more than 25 million copies worldwide and been translated into 40 languages, Eoin has delighted generations of readers with his wit, imagination and flair for storytelling. In 2010, the series was named the public’s favourite Puffin Modern Classic of all time and later inspired a Disney film adaptation directed by Sir Kenneth Branagh.

Eoin’s body of work is wide-ranging, from the award-winning Half Moon Investigations (adapted for BBC television) and the futuristic adventures of The Supernaturalist to his continuation of Douglas Adams’ The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy with 'And Another Thing…'. His collaborations have also drawn acclaim, including Imaginary Fred with Oliver Jeffers and the graphic novel Illegal with Andrew Donkin and Giovanni Rigano. More recently, he has turned his hand to climate fiction with Global and folklore-inspired storytelling in Beanie and the Banshee, co-written with Steve McCarthy. For adult readers, his fantasy novel Highfire introduced a vodka-drinking dragon living in the Louisiana bayou.

A former Children’s Laureate of Ireland, Eoin continues to be a celebrated figure in literature, captivating audiences of all ages. This Festival Forum interview will be conducted by journalist Tom Mooney.
