A taste of the magic of Wexford Festival Opera lights up Rome as part of 70th anniversary year

Eleonora Buratto WFO concert in Rome

Last night (Wednesday 22 December), audiences in Rome, Italy, were treated to a taste of the magic of Wexford Festival Opera when a special concert took place as part of the Festival’s ongoing 70th anniversary year celebrations.

This concert was one of the ways that WFO 70th Anniversary will be marked both at home in Ireland and abroad, in-person and online, over the next few months.

The renowned Eleonora Buratto took to the stage of the Villa Torlonia Theatre in Rome for a stunning concert, one of four taking place in four capital cities across the world, each performed by a female festival ambassador. Last night, this unforgettable performance in Rome, supported by the Embassy of Ireland to Italy, was attended by the recently appointed Irish Ambassador to Italy Patricia O’Brien and an invited audience. In support of Wexford Festival Opera’s 70th anniversary, this event was Ambassador Patricia O’Brien’s first official duty.

The artists taking part in the four concerts, W4WOMEN | AROUND THE WORLD, are connected not only by their link to Wexford but a shared dedication to artistic excellence.

The other three events organized in conjunction with the Irish Embassies around the world will be:

ANGELA MEADE – performing 14 April 2022, New York.

ERMONELA JAHO – performing 20 June 2022, London.
