The Plot
Act 1
The opera is set on a deserted island, where two sisters, Costanza and Silvia, have been stranded for 13 years. They were left there by their father, who believed that they had been unfaithful to their fiancés. The sisters have been living in isolation, surviving on the fruits and vegetables they grow. Silvia has become resigned to their fate, but Costanza is determined to escape and find her fiancé, Gernando.
Act 2
In the second act, Gernando arrives on the island, having been shipwrecked nearby. He is overjoyed to be reunited with Costanza and reveals that he has never stopped loving her. However, their happiness is short-lived, as Gernando's friend Enrico also washes ashore. Enrico is in love with Silvia and is determined to win her heart. He tries to convince Silvia to leave the island with him, but she refuses, feeling loyal to her sister.
In the end, the sisters are faced with a difficult decision: stay on the island and continue their isolated existence or leave with their fiancés and face an uncertain future. They ultimately choose love and decide to leave the island with Gernando and Enrico. The opera ends with a joyful ensemble celebrating their newfound freedom and happiness.
