Opera buffa in four acts to a libretto by Giuseppe Petrosellini, adapted from the 1775 play Le Barbier de Séville by Pierre Beaumarchais. The Count of Almaviva has fallen in love with Rosina, the beautiful ward of Doctor Bartolo. The Count is determined to have her but she is kept under lock and key by Bartolo, her jealous guardian. A story of disguise and wit, it tells the story of two young lovers and their quest to be together. Every cunning strategy is employed to help the Count outwit Dr Bartolo and ensure that true love wins the day.
