Artist bursaries
The 2022 Danone Award for Young Outstanding Female Artist was awarded to Irish soprano Leah Redmond.
This award goes to young female artists performing at Wexford Festival Opera to support their future career endeavours. Building on their long-term sponsorship of WFO, the Danone Young Outstanding Female Award is part of Danone’s much-valued partnership with the Festival which began in 2010. The partnership also sees Danone support a main-stage production each year.
Leah Redmond is a member of the 2022/23 Wexford Factory and a rising talent on the Irish operatic scene. Last year she performed the role of Griselda in the Wexford Factory Opera, Cinderella, and took part in many of the Festival’s Pop-Up events happening in diverse locations throughout town.
In the 2023 programme, she will take on roles in L’Aube rouge, L’italiana in Algeri and Gianni Schicchi, a new community opera.
