Matthew Mannion, is an Irish/ American Bass-Baritone originally from Billings, Montana but relocated back to Roscommon Ireland with his family and later completed his BMUS and MMUS in the Royal Irish Academy of Music. Most recently Matthew was a Resident Artist with Teatro Nuovo in New York where he covered the roles of Leporello and Masetto in their Il Don Giovanni and made his debut as a recitalist in the Rose Theater at The Lincoln Center. In the 25-26 season Matthew also sang roles such as The Judge/ Shouter 5/ Yeats in Alberto Caruso’s Lady Gregory in America with the Wild Swan Theatre Company, Uncle Yakisude in Irish National Opera’s Madama Butterfly, The Outlaw in Irish National Opera’s national tour of The Bartered Bride, and Father Owl in The Owl Who was Afraid of the Dark by Oliver Rudland with the Ballaghaderreen Arts Festival.
He also was a finalist in both the Bernadette Greevy Competition in the National Concert Hall as the 17th Concorso Lirico International ‘Citta di Brescia - Tribute to Maria Callas’ Competition. His other roles include Guglielmo (Così fan tutte), Melisso (Alcina), Uberto (La Serva Padrona), Colline (La Boheme, cover), Un Chasseur (Guillaume Tell), and Giove (La Calisto). As well as opera, Matthew also has an active career in oratorio performing works such as Handel’s Messiah, CPE Bach’s Magnificat, Stanford’s Mass in G, Beethoven’s Mass in C, Mozart’s Requiem, Haydn’s Die Sieben letzten Worte unseres Erlösers am Kreuze, Vivaldi’s Dixit Dominus, and Bach’s Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland.
