Rachael Conaghan

Rachael is a mezzo-soprano originally from County Offaly, she began her studies at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, graduating with First Class Honours in Vocal Performance. She is a recent Masters graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under Wilma MacDougall, having previously studied with Dr. Imelda Drumm, Dr. Dearbhla Collins, and the late Gráinne Dunne.

Operatic roles include Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro (Lyric Opera Studio Weimar, 2025), Brigid O’Mullane in the world premiere of Stephen McNeff’s Spirits Unsurrendered, La Zelatrice in Suor Angelica (Saluzzo Opera Academy), Yolanda in Elizabeth Maconchy’s The Sofa (RIAM Opera), and Plantae Incantate in Caccini’s La Liberazione di Ruggiero.

A prizewinner at Dublin’s Feis Ceoil, she received first place in both the Mezzo-Soprano (2021) and Contralto (2022) competitions. She has also appeared in concert with Dublin’s Bohemians Society and serves as a cantor at Mullingar Cathedral.

In 2026, she will return to Weimar as Prince Orlovsky in Die Fledermaus, and the Second Lady and Second Boy in Die Zauberflöte. She is currently a young artist with the Dunedin Consort 2025/26 Bridging the Gap scheme and has toured with the ensemble.
