Eilís Dexter is a mezzo-soprano from Dublin, currently based in Switzerland while completing her masters at Zürich University of the Arts with Sarah Wegener. In March 2026, Eilís performed the role of Ruggiero in a shortened production of Handel's Alcina at the Immersive Arts Space in Zürich. In 2025 she performed the role of Flora in Jonathan Dove's The Enchanted Pig with Ahimè Opera in Basel and the lead role in the contemporary opera Drift by Philipp Rhein with ZHdK Opera. Last season, Eilís sang the role of Dido in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas in Christchurch Cathedral and various roles in The Fairy Queen with the London Handel Players and the Croatian Baroque Ensemble.
Eilís recently performed Elgar's The Music Makers with the Dublin County Choir and was the alto soloist in Bach's Christmas Oratorio led by Peter Kooij at the Trimontiada Festival in Bulgaria. Other solo appearances include Vivaldi’s Gloria and Dixit Dominus, Handel’s Messiah and Saint-Saëns Oratorio de Noël among others. Last year Eilís joined Peter Whelan and the Irish Baroque Orchestra Chorus for a performance of Handel's Alexander's Feast at the BBC Proms. Eilís has worked with the Irish National Opera Chorus, Opera Collective Ireland, Blackwater Valley Opera Festival and leading Irish ensembles Resurgam and Chamber Choir Ireland. Next season, Eilís will make her debut in the role of Rossweisse in part three of Wagner’s Die Walküre with the Richard Wagner Society in Switzerland.
